Free AMR Converter can help you perform some operations involving video. Although its main function is that of a format converter, it also supports some authoring actions, such as splitting a file, extracting a segment from a movie, ripping audio from video and joining several clips into a larger file. Moreover, it can help you upload the resulting files to various web sites.
The program has a nice interface, with basically the same layout that you find in other converters. Therefore, if you are familiar with this type of software, you will probably use it with no difficulty from the start.
As the converter supports batch processing, you can add various movies of a wide range of input formats. These clips can be readily previewed to verify their contents. If you need to extract only a segment from one of these files, you can use the Clip function to mark the starting and ending points. From the same window, you can also split the clip into chunks of equal time length. Reversely, the program allows you to select various clips from the conversion list and combine them into a larger file. Used wisely, the combination of the Clip and Join functions can turn this tool into a simple video editor. Unfortunately, the program lacks some other authoring functions, such as watermarking, adding subtitles and cropping, which could make it far more complete.
The program supports an amazing list of output profiles. Some of them have been organized into formats. However, in order to prevent compatibility issues, the program features another form of organization based on devices. In case none of the available profiles meets your exact needs, you can always personalize them by entering the precise parameters. Unluckily, you will need to customize profiles every time you want to use them because the program does not let you save them.
As said, besides converting files, the program allows uploading them to the Web. Using appropriate configurations, such as YouTube account and proxy parameters, and with the help of YouTube Uploader, another tool by the same developer, you can easily choose a list of files to post to a web site. In addition, the program comes with various built-in player types and layouts.
In general, Free AMR Converter can do its job well. While tested, it converted some video clips fast and accurately. It certainly lacks some features that are already common in many similar applications. However, I would not discourage you from using it because, anyhow, it has everything you need for basic conversion tasks.
